My name is Marycary Fundora-Sonora, “ it’s unique” is what I’d imagine my parents told the doctor when I was born. I’m a Miami-based Hispanic actress with Cuban and Southwestern European roots. I was raised in a house where Latin music always played, dancing salsa with my Tia, and singing karaoke were part of my everyday life. My theatre journey technically began with a screening of Tinker Bell. When my mom recorded me singing “Fly to Your Heart” by Selena Gomez, I cried and begged her not to post it on Facebook. She did anyway. While the video didn’t live on forever (because I found her password in her notes app at age 10) my love for performing did and from that moment on, no one was ever able to keep me quiet. Since then, I’ve been chasing that same sense of magic through storytelling. Whether onstage, on a screen, dancing or singing. I’m drawn to characters with heart, fire, and vulnerability, and I enjoy bringing passion, and sparkle into every space I enter.
